Ms. Tonya

Ms. Tonya began teaching music in Indiana in 1998! She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters’ of Education. Under her direction, the choirs at NorthWood Middle School grew to over 450 participants and the theatre arts program worked with around 100 middle school students. In addition to performing holiday and spring concerts, her students also participated in IMEA Circle the State with Song, ISSMA Organizational Contest, ISSMA Solo and Ensemble festival, IMEA Festival, and the ICDA Just for Guys workshop. She has given state presentations, judged at ISSMA, conducted and coordinated for combined state choir events, and served on the IMEA board. Her accomplishments and service to students and the world of music is extensive and exemplary. Among her many accomplishments as a music educator, Ms. Tonya received the IMEA Outstanding Middle School Music Educator in 2020. She resides in Mishawaka with her husband and they are active members of First Baptist Church of Elkhart. They have four grown children and keep busy with families in Indiana and Arizona.
